Product Features
1.Excellent insulation performance

  • Double-layer vacuum insulation structure: Small LNG fuel tanks (volume less than 500 cubic meters) adopt double-layer vacuum insulation structure. The inner and outer shells of the double-layer tank are supported by non-metallic materials with good insulation performance such as epoxy resin rods. The interlayer is evacuated or highly vacuumed (the vacuum degree can reach less than 0.05 Pa) and non-metallic materials with good insulation performance are set, which can effectively reduce the input of external heat and keep the temperature and pressure of LNG in the fuel tank relatively stable for a long time.

  • Single-layer metal tank and external insulation layer structure: Large LNG fuel tanks adopt single-layer metal tanks and external insulation layer structure. The bottom of the tank body is supported by epoxy resin and laminated wood combination, and the upper part is fixed with a floating device. The fuel tank is insulated by spraying polyurethane insulation layer, which can also ensure the storage quality of LNG.

2.High-quality and durable materials

  • Austenitic stainless steel: Small LNG fuel tanks with double-layer container vacuum insulation structure are made of austenitic stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance and low-temperature toughness and can adapt to the complex working conditions of the marine environment.

  • Nickel steel: Large LNG fuel tanks with single-layer tank structure are mostly made of ferritic 9Ni steel, etc. 9Ni steel has good low-temperature toughness at ultra-low temperatures and higher strength than austenitic stainless steel, which can effectively ensure the strength and safety of the tank.

  • Ni36 Invar steel: Membrane-type fuel tanks for storing low-pressure LNG are mostly made of Invar steel, which is an iron-based high-nickel alloy with a nickel content of 36%. It has good low-temperature resistance and extremely low expansion rate, and can ensure the stable operation of the fuel tank in a low-temperature environment.

  • High manganese steel: In recent years, the industry has developed high-manganese austenitic low-temperature steel with a manganese content of between 22% and 25%. Its strength is higher than the above-mentioned main materials, and its cost has obvious advantages. Compared with 9Ni steel, its economic efficiency is roughly 4 times higher, providing a new solution for the material selection of fuel tanks.

3.Various structural forms

  • Double-layer vacuum insulated tank: suitable for small ships, with good insulation performance and safety, can effectively reduce the evaporation loss of LNG.

  • Single-layer tank: suitable for large ships, with relatively simple structure and low manufacturing cost, can meet the large-scale storage needs of large ships for LNG fuel.

  • Movable tank cabinet (container type): flexible and movable, convenient for transfer and use between different ships, suitable for some ships with more flexible requirements for fuel storage space.

  • Membrane fuel tank: This type of technology is mainly patented by the French GTT company, including NO.96 series and MARK Ⅲ series. Most of the LNG tanks of LNG transport ships adopt membrane tank design, which has the advantage of high tank capacity utilization. With the increase in demand for large fuel tanks, membrane fuel tanks have also begun to be used in recent years. For example, the LNG fuel tanks of the 15000TEU container ship equipped by Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. and the 23000TEU container ship equipped by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. all use membrane tanks.

4.Reliable safety performance

  • Complete monitoring measures: LNG fuel tanks are equipped with pressure, temperature, liquid level and other monitoring measures, which can continuously monitor the relevant parameters of LNG, detect abnormal conditions in time and take corresponding measures.

  • Reasonable cold box design: The fuel tank's filling pipeline, gas supply pipeline, etc. are equipped with many valves, instruments, etc. The leakage of these components will cause flammable natural gas, which may cause explosion risks, and the low temperature of LNG will cause "cold brittle" damage to the carbon steel hull structure. Therefore, the fuel tank is equipped with a cold box to concentrate the filling pipeline, gas supply pipeline, etc. in a relatively closed space, which is convenient for management and maintenance, and can effectively prevent the leakage of flammable gas and the damage of low temperature to the hull structure.

  • Scientific air lock setting: When the fuel tank is set under the deck, an air lock needs to be set. The air lock is a "barrier" space that separates the non-hazardous area from the hazardous area. The hazardous area refers to the area with explosive gas. The settings of positive pressure ventilation, combustible gas detection, self-closing doors, threshold height requirements, etc. in the air lock will effectively prevent the combustible gas in the gas hazardous area from flowing to the non-hazardous area, and ensure the explosion-proof safety of the area outside the air lock.

Installation and maintenance requirements
Installation location:
The installation location of the methanol fuel tank on the ship should take into account the center of gravity, stability and safety of the ship. Generally speaking, the fuel tank should be installed at the bottom or lower position of the ship, which can lower the center of gravity of the ship and improve the stability of the ship. At the same time, the installation location should be convenient for the transportation and management of fuel, and should comply with the overall layout planning and safety requirements of the ship.
Daily maintenance:
Regularly check the appearance of the tank body to check for corrosion, deformation, etc. For the connection parts of the tank body, such as pipe interfaces, valves, etc., check the sealing condition to ensure that there is no methanol leakage. At the same time, regularly check whether the equipment such as liquid level gauges and vents are working properly. In addition, safety equipment such as explosion-proof electrical equipment and combustible gas monitoring alarms should be inspected and maintained to ensure that they are in good working condition. In addition, according to the use and storage time of methanol, the tank body should be cleaned in time to remove impurities and sediments in the tank.
